The owners described their home as "the worst house on the best street" when they first approached us. The brief was simple. A total house makeover was required both internally & externally.
The original 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom house has was badly planned with very low levels of natural light, poor ventilation, minimal views, limited connection to the garden & it did not provide sufficient accommodation for this busy professional couple & their 3 young children.
Some careful re-planning allowed us to retain as much of the existing structure as possible & work within budget to transform the original, unimpressive house into their dream home! A new extension to the rear encorporates a master suite with ensuite bathroom & some much needed additional living space. The old kitchen & laundry have been completely replaced with contemporary new cabinetwork & stone benchtops. Large, glazed sliding doors now connect the indoor & outdoor living/ dining areas while a new north facing verandah connects the front & rear of the house.
Externally, a coloured acrylic render, natural timber & new colorbond roof sheeting have given the whole house a contemporary, yet rustic aesthetic that is a direct response to it's environment.
