This passive solar, energy efficient home was designed for a young family in Beverley. Our client wanted a bespoke home that incorporated language and materials appropriate to its rural setting and had a strong connection to the land.
We explored several options for updating 100 years of haphazard alterations and additions to meet modern living requirements while respecting and accentuating the character of the old house.
Inspiration was drawn from the Australian vernacular, farmhouses and shearing sheds to create a house that is beautiful, functional and above all else a family home.
Our clients come from a sheep farming family & wanted their new home to reflect their heritage. The great Australian Shearing Shed provided the inspiration for this family home in Wagin.
We were thrilled to be invited to design renovations & additions to this beautiful old heritage listed home in Guildford.
This holiday house is situated in the heart of Margaret River next to Cape Mentelle vineyard. The house uses the materiality and forms of rural farm buildings to create a contemporary aesthetic appropriate to its location.
Our clients wanted a contemporary new home that would be fully off-grid on their large working farm in the Great Southern region. The house sits as a sculptural element on the side of a hill, framed by the landscape.
This beautiful passive solar home was designed for a fabulous horse property in Herne Hill.
The existing cottage is described in the Municipal Inventory as “a good representative example of a weatherboard clad Federation Bungalow”. It has considerable historical significance which our client values highly.
